    Computer wakes for WMC Update

Every few days my computer will wake from sleep in the middle of the night and to find out why I check lastwake from the command prompt and got this in attachment. I looked in WMC and didn't find any auto updating turned on. How do I turn this off? I really don't use WMC that much and don't need it waking my computer to update.

Hi Pdskep! Welcome to SevenForums! Try turning off Auto Updates by:

    1. Go to Control Panel
    2. In the Search Box at the top right, type Update
    3. Under Windows Update click Turn Automatic Updating On or Off.
    4. Under Microsoft Update, untick the box, which says Give me Updates for Microsoft Products................

Put your PC to sleep and see if it still Wakes.

Hi thanks Zeshan. I missed step 4 before, but I still want updates, just not for it to wake my computer. Is there a way around that? Thanks

This will only AFFECT updates for Microsoft Products (E.G. WMC). You can choose if you want Windows to ask you before installing updates.

Open Media Center, go to Tasks, General, Automatic Download Options, Uncheck "Automatically download Windows Media Center data between the following times", Then Click Save.

Go to Device Manager > double click Network adapter > double click your network device > Power Management tab > uncheck " Allow this device to wake the computer" > OK.

Thanks for the advice all. I have done all of these things and I still have the same issue. It only happens maybe once a week. Not a huge deal, just very annoying.

Interestingly this option(4) doesn't seem to exist anymore.
