Live TV & HVR-1600 stuttering & now wrong decode error

    HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

I have Window 7 RTM w/ WMC & I got a HVR-1600 tuner card for Christmas. It was working fine for about 4days & then yesterday the video & audio started to stuttering, fast forwarding to catch up with the feed & then the video & audio will just stop playing. I have tried to roll back my system to an earlier time, I uninstalled a couple programs (ImageMixer & some others programs that I got with a camcorder) with no luck. I also installed Media Center Decoder Utility to change the decoder & this made things worse, instead of stuttering & fast forwarding, it gets me an error message saying; video Decoder is not working, not install or not supported. I tried to change it back & it still gives me the same message.
Does anyone know how to repair this; it would be great to use my $120 tuner card again.

    Thanks for any info,

Have you downloaded the updated drivers? Update drivers: recommended links.

You may want to run Windows troubleshooting to pinpoint any problems with hardware or programs: Windows 7 features - Windows Troubleshooting - Microsoft Windows.

From the manufacturers page for your product:

    To install the latest driver:

Leave your WinTV-HVR-1600 plugged into your PC. Follow the following steps:

    • Download the WinTV-HVR-1600 driver update: 18drv_27148
    • Unzip this file to a directory you will remember, such as WINTV. It will create a new folder. To install, open the folder.
    • Run HCWDRIVERINSTALL.EXE.
    • This will install the WinTV-HVR-1600 base driver. At the completion of the driver install, you should see a message which says Drivers have been updated successfully.
