Uninstall the codecs now, reboot and install Shark's pack. That should do it - hopefully.

thats what i had before. everything played but .avi was jumpy...
Are these .avi's your rip's or someone else's - they may have been improperly encoded. Leave ffdshow show then.
a few are mine but most are others. i can get audio with ffdshow and ac3 filter installed but it is still a little jumpy. not as much as when only the shark pack is installed. removing the sound card helped a lot for some reason but it didnt completely fix the issue
Have you installed the latest chipset drivers? Not really surprised the sound card was problematic.
yea i have the latest chipset drivers. from the nvidia website.
Solution here is to use WMP for everything except .avi's.
either that or i could clean install. but i really dont want to deal with that again because i have everything how i like it now. i will probably re encode the .avi's to .mkv its about half and half of each format so i might as well make them all the same.
Careful - rubbish into mkv rubbish out - do you know how to encode the files?
not yet...haha. i was going to find a decent guide how to. know of one?
