HD movie playback mainly avi files is choppy in WMC

    Uninstall the codecs now, reboot and install Shark's pack. That should do it - hopefully.

    thats what i had before. everything played but .avi was jumpy...

    Are these .avi's your rip's or someone else's - they may have been improperly encoded. Leave ffdshow show then.

    a few are mine but most are others. i can get audio with ffdshow and ac3 filter installed but it is still a little jumpy. not as much as when only the shark pack is installed. removing the sound card helped a lot for some reason but it didnt completely fix the issue

    Have you installed the latest chipset drivers? Not really surprised the sound card was problematic.

    yea i have the latest chipset drivers. from the nvidia website.

    Solution here is to use WMP for everything except .avi's.

    either that or i could clean install. but i really dont want to deal with that again because i have everything how i like it now. i will probably re encode the .avi's to .mkv its about half and half of each format so i might as well make them all the same.

    Careful - rubbish into mkv rubbish out - do you know how to encode the files?
