Xbox 360 Media Center slowness issue

    Hello everyone.

I have a Windows Home Server that I built to store all of my DVD rips. I wanted to watch those rips on my TV through my Xbox 360 as a Media Center extender. I used my Xbox 360 as a media center extender to connect to my PC (Quad Core, 8GB ram) which in turn is connected to my Windows Home Server.

Loading movies or music brings the Xbox to a halt. It just freezes and I have let it sit there just in case it had to scan my library. I have about 25 movies and tons of songs. However, I can go into My Xbox --> Videos and access my Windows Home server share directly and watch movies just fine.

I want to use the media center since I have the movie DVD images and it's just prettier. :) Any ideas on what my issue could be?

BTW, I am connected by wire (not wireless) to my home network.

Did you let WMC fully build its libraries? It can take several hours, and if the PC gets shut off, sleeep, etc it needs to start all over.

I have not let it sit for hours. So just to be clear, turn on the Xbox, start Windows Media Center and let it sit for several hours? Does it matter if I am in movies or music or can I just be at the default start screen?
