windows 7, media center not working

after installing avermedia tv tuner(w7 compatible per ms), and starting media center setup, message "media center not working".
last new download was norton security, via comcast.net.

if there are no resolutions to this, how do I reinstall MCE?

Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features. On the left, click "Turn Windows Features on or Off" Expand "Media Features", then uncheck "Windows Media Center". Hit OK, then let it unistall. I would reboot to make sure anything clears out. Then go back in and check it to enable and install it. You will then want to re-run the setup of it.

I don't think it uninstalls it - it just disables it. To my knowledge you cannot reinstall the MC (unless you reinstall the system). It is an integral part of the system.

Correct, but I have seen it fix these types of weird issues.

You could run sfc /scannow in elevated cmd and see whether it can fix it.

Following the wrong thread! Someone did point me on how to force an update and that worked. Huzzah!
