Problem with WMP and game discs

Hi all, I've had the following problem with both build 7000 and 7068 (both 64bit).

What happens is that I have WMP playing something (doesn't matter what, music, video etc.) and when I put in certain game discs (seems to be about 1/2 to 3/4 of them) the playlist gets hijacked completely.

I can't go back to previous playlist (get a file access error). Nor does changing/disabling autoplay make any difference, so I have to assume it's something in WMP, but haven't been able to change it. It's driving me nuts as I often like to leave my music/video going while the game's installing before playing it. Any help anyone could give me would be great.

Have you went through MP settings and made sure its auto play was disabled?

Sounds like it is seeing the audio files in the game and trying to start them instead of your play list.

I can't seem to find anything in tools/options that would seem to fit the bit, although I haven't discounted the possibility of being blind/stupid. Any ideas where the option might be?

You could try changing the Autoplay defaults (Start->Default Programs). I've had (in some cases) game disks with audio as the first section of the disk & Windows was reading that first so opened WMP to play. By setting the Autoplay for Audio CD's it should ask what you wish to do (e.g. run setup.exe or Autoplay.exe).

Hope this helps :)

Thought I put this in my origional post, but apparently not. T'was the first thing I tried, unfortunately even completely disabling Autorun does nothing to change WMP being stupid. I didn't reboot after changing the Autorun defaults, but I wouldn't have thought that would make any difference in this day and age. Guess it's worth a try though..

I can now confirm that reboot after changing the Autoplay settings changes nothing. WMP also automatically hijacks the current playlist when inserting a music CD (I had to actually dig one out from storage to test this). Only difference is that it loads the new playlist properly and has no problem returning to the previous playlist.
