Demonseed and all, I do not remeber seeing this link in the thread, but may have missed it. Iwas using meta-browser to tag and look up my files. Yesterday I came across Media Center Master, and what a difference this makes - Media Center Master community forums • Index page

Able to revamp my collection of over 1300 films in a couple hours.

Latest versions for download are found here - http://forums.mediacentermaster.com/viewforum.php?f=2

I do apologize if this has already been posted.
No it hasn't and I'm adding it to the cover page now thank you for that!

I am new with MCE windows 7. I always used MediaPortal. I installed the MediaBrowser and it looks really nice. Unfortunately it doesn't play my MKV files? I found this on google

    http://www.hack7mc.com/2009/02/mkvs-...windows-7.html

Can someone explain to me how to change the registry and where I can find the correct file on my computer?

Also would like to know how to configure the codecs for the internal player? I am using FFDSHOW and AC3Filter but how does MCE know?

    Thanks in advance.

    Cheers,
    Steve

well according to the link you show all you should need to do is install the the two codices and then run the regkey they provided and MVK's should play. As I read it there should be no configuration to be done.

    the post you show said:
If you have trouble viewing your MKVs in Windows Media Center or Windows Media Player, try deleting your “C:\Users\YOUR-USERNAME\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Media Player\CurrentDatabase_371.wmdb” file. To enable this file to be deleted you will need to stop the WMPNetworkSvc service from the task manager (ctrl-alt-delete).
This is the one thing that I see that may help you. I dont use MVK's so I'm realy not to much help. sorry

What I would do is remove all of your codecs and remove media browser
then go to program data/media browser/cache and delete everything inside then restart your PC then install Shark007.net - Windows 7 Codecs
and Media browser again then start MC

Shark says his codecs will play MVK's in windows 7
