Problem with HD video files, quality is BAD

So I just transfered alot of video files using HC codecs such as H264, and theres seriously something wrong with quality. The video just seems like playing some game with low resolution.

I think Mp4 files are working just fine, I have only 1 short TV promo in Mp4 format so comparing is bit hard at the moment.

I'm running windows 7 build 7077, Leadtek Winfast 8800GT ZL Graphics card, using Nvidias latest Windows 7 driver package, I'm using VLC player and Windows media player to play the files.

    Thanks in advance

I have the same problem as you. It's like there was translucent square on screen. I try to take some capture on a mkv files to be more explicit.

I have the same problem, its like the quality of certain thing are lower compare to Vista. Speed how ever is more likely to be faster, for example in GTA IV which i am playing now, i see a little bit of antialayzing problem(i know that GTA IV doesnt have antialayzing but the game quality is lower)
BUT it is a lot faster 60 FPS every thin maxed out.
by the way i have core i7 and GTX 295.
