Windows 7: USB to DVI/HDMI with 1080p?

05 Apr 2010   #11

Windows 7 Enterprise (x64); Windows Server 2008 R2 (x64)

I have my computer connected DVI to HDMI and a separate audio cable. Works perfectly. I would try the USB to HDMI and the audio cable and see if that works.

Are you trying to connect your computer to a TV. You will need a HDMI output to make that work and have audio. USB and DVI do not support either Video (USB) or DVI (Sound).
To get a HDMI output you'll need a new Video Card.

So, on the back of my TV, the first HDMI says HDMI/DVI. Does that mean it can also be a PC connection, which means that when i hook an HDMI into it, it will get audio if avalible from the Audio in near the PC input?

Windows 7 32-bit

Your graphic card must support audio output throughmode for that.

Right click on the speaker and select "Playback devices", mine says something like "ATI HDMI Output", and I must select it as default device so it "transmits" the audio through the HDMI,

Hi, have a look at DisplayLink Store , most if not all of the adapters there support 1080p.
unfortunately none of them support audio as they are all VGA/DVI.
I am currently using a Displaylink bases Samsung Monitor and it works like a charm in 1080p.

Thank you to the DisplayLink post. I found a DVI one, and plugged it in and it worked as long as I had it set to the first HDMI to PC instead of other.
