It says playready is for premium TV, so Cable/Satellite/PayTV programming?
Not sure if it's that or for digital TV which I don't have hooked up to my PC, only directly to my TV.

I think that Playready thing is in beta anyway so probably isn't worth worrying about. Glad you've got WMC working.

the thing is for most people it is compatible OOB

for me since it was included in a system which offered MCE 2002 which i almost could never find drivers online....
and since it was unsupported in vista and 7 (and of course didnt work) i tried using the ffdshow codecs and they worked....

thats the reason i offered this advice...
even though i dont use that card anymore...
and good job for everyone for helping scrooge to get it working...

In Australia we have Foxtel IQ, a pay-per view service that uses a box connected to the TV. Perhaps it's just a software equivalent.

I got MC working with out issue this time around and so far all is good. I'm not going to tempt fate this time and install a codec pack. I think I'll just stick with VLC for all non-liveTV stuff. TBH, I don't really watch FTA TV anymore. It's all channel BT for my entertainment

    hi all
anyone got a pci-e tv card working with 4 gig of ram or more?
when i try to use the tv with 4 gig of ram the picture is very jurky it also happens with vista 64.

if i go back to 3 gig of ram everything works fine doesn't matter what prog i use to watch tv it happens and also changing codecs doesn't help

    cheers brad

And then it will just break again after running it once? I heard the BSOD had something to do with UAC, but I don't really want to turn it off completely (I have it on low) but I will if it will mean that Media Center will not crap out. Do you have any more information on this? Can I do a repair of win7 from the installer to fix it? (not trying to be lazy, just efficient).
Not necessarily true because I have 6801 x64 with UAC cranked up to Vista outrageous settings and I have no issues with WMC at all. Well, other than my cable looking kind of grainy since it is analog and not digital....

Yup -I have a Hauppauge WinTuner 1800 PVR (or whatever the actual model number and name combination is, I am too lazy to look it up...) and it works great on my system with 4 GB RAM and Vista x64 *and* W7 6801 x64.

very nice card good price and good to see they are finally putting the f connections on the card.

maybe its my cards drivers i hope should be getting beta drivers to try soon

    cheers brad

I just read all the reviews on the Hauppauge cards and lots of people have issues with them, sounds like their support gets an F- as well.

I want an ATI card ... I guess under the Diamond name would be my preference, just have to figure out what model. Too bad none of them are dual tuners.

And john ... I'm confused by you calling my comment untrue, you aren't even talking about the same build! I just did a reinstall of 6936 and media center still crashes on trying to open it,

maybe we can get to the bottom of this...
