    WMC will not access my AVI files


    WMC will not let me play AVI files in the program, downloaded ffdshow and codecs packs for it, it should the file folder for the AVI file but then when I click to open it doesnt open and should zero files in the avi file folder for that movie. I need help please

    It may be that the AVI files you're attempting to open don't use the ffdshow codec. Download VLC Media Player and open the files with it. Once the video is open press Ctrl+J or go to Tools > Codec Information. Read the line for video (Stream 0) download the appropriate codec.

    You can also download a blanket codec pack such as K-Lite, CCCP, or Shark007 but I highly recommend just downloading the codecs you need in case you need to remove them later as codec packs can cause problems.
