Would this dv6000 laptop make a decent htpc?

Have no other use for it so figured I'd just use as a htpc til I could make a good one. How would it work as a htpc you think? No hdmi/dvi ports on it, but meh. Would it play HD stuff ok or no since it'd be running off VGA to a 40" lcd?

Your HD content will play, but not at HD resolutions. A small worry, really. Just viewing content on a larger monitor is worth it. A plus is the laptop should be fairly quiet.

Didn't think it'd play HD resolutions, but ok thanks =).

What's with all this quiet talk? My desktop wasn't built to be quiet and yet it's super quiet. I can hardly hear anything even when it was in a case, etc. Can y'all really hear the very low noise of fans, etc? The only time I heard anything was when I had the compaq proliant 5500 sitting running 24/7 for a year. Now that sounded like a jet taking off the whole time.

My HTPC is in a separate room. Ran all the connections through the wall. The machine has three 4-in-3 bays (12 1TB WDs in RAID6). It is not quiet.

I built another HTPC (more reasonable) to replace it, but my wife adopted it.
