Crap. Thank you for mentioning that, I have an 8600gts, not 9xxx series. My mistake.

However, uninstalling the driver will just give me a big pixelated screen of which won't allow me to get an accurate representation of the video size and quality as everything will just be big and crappy. Correct me if I'm wrong, though.

True, but the aim was merely to rule out the graphics driver as a cause of the resizing problem. Have you tried installing the 8 series vista driver from nvidia? It does work with W7.

Just so I'm clear, you all (who don't have this problem) can open an mpg/avi/wmv file, resize the window, then open another different file and the window opens in the same place and size, correct?

It will initially open in a small square window and then expand to the video frame size. And yes, it remembers position when opening avi/mkv however the size is always determined by the video you're opening. If you launch wmp from its icon though, it'll remember both size and position.

Yea, what's weird is launching it from the taskbar will remember size and position. However, opening a new video, each time it will start really small in the same position on the screen, just won't resize after that to much larger, if at all.

Clean install. Matched MD5's and I got the full, correct download of RC1 x64.

    Remembering resize

This has been bugging me for a while now, I like to watch several videos one after another and I don't want to resize the window every time.

This worked for me on W7RC1 and W7RTM
1-Open media player in library view from the icon on the task bar
    2-adjust size if you want
3-click the switch to now playing icon in the lower right of the screen
4-adjust the size of the window
5-right click go to view-video size-check fit player to video on resize and uncheck fit player to video
6-switch to library view from icon in upper left
    7-close
Now the next time you click on a video it will open the now playing screen in the size that you had and for evey video after that.

jwilsn, you are the man! That worked for me! I've posted multiple threads on why on earth the video always opened in a small window and never remembered the position. After following your instructions, I'm back in the game! It all works now. Thank you so much.
