    HD Tuner Suggestions Needed

I currently have Time Warner Cable. I'm looking to replace my HD DVR box with a tuner card.

My goal is to be able to install the card, plug the cable coax into it, and then watch and record HD content via my two TVs that have Xbox extenders on them.

    Thanks so much!

According to a few friends, this is the best budget tuner:

AverTV Hybrid Volar Max - Google Search

If you're looking for a PCI tuner, I've heard that it's best to get one that has both MPEG Encoding and runs on PCI x1. Otherwise you computer will have to decode everything itself and will be sluggish.

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16815116015

It's quite popular as well and works w/ Windows 7 so you should be able to find advice if you have issues setting it up.

So will I be able to tune in the HD channels as well as the standard def? I've read about cards that use a cable card, but I think that's just for paid programming.

if you want to be able to record cable channels you will need a cable card tuner. the first standalone tuner will be out in the next week or so and is called the ceton infinitv tuner. it fits in a pci slot and has 4 tuners
