I had the 1600 before i went to the 1800 and had the same problem no HD or Qam but have had good luck with the 1800 and the 2250. I tried everything under the sun to get the 1600 to work until I finally e-bayed it and upgraded to what i am using today.

If your card did the scan, but you don't see the digital channels in the guide:
After you set up your tunner as digital and Scan for channels:

Go to Tasks heading and select Settings, then TV, then Guide, then Edit Channels. Here is where I had all of my QAM channels from my scan. You have to check the box next to each channel for it to show in the guide. Then when you are watching a channel like 74.6 find out what it is, then select Guide on your remote, then info/more button, then you can go to Edit Channel, then Edit Listing. This is where you can assign it a listing, or merge it with an anolog channel listing.

That being said, my HVR-1600 is not getting the QAM, and I did the registry hack, the HCWclear, older drivers, and checked model number of card is capable. Not sure why mine wont work.
with the 4.6 and 4.8 drivers, mediaportal would show the atsc/qam portion. but the scan is a joke. it scanned in like 6 seconds. when i've scanned successfully in the past on vista 32-bit, it took a few minutes to scan. and after the 6-second scan, there was nothing.

right now, i'll stick to the windows 7 driver because media center 7 is perfect with it. the 4.6 and 4.8 drivers break media center 7 and don't work quite right in mediaportal or wintv.

who knows, maybe win 7 32-bit would solve my problems but my machine has 8 GB of RAM and i'm not going to install 32-bit on this machine. maybe i can put the hauppauge card in another computer that will be 32-bit.

as always, it's the drivers that need tweaking. hauppauge needs to get in gear.

for those chiming in an saying their setup works, you have to state your setup. are you using 64-bit windows 7 or 32-bit? because it makes a difference. hauppauge themselves would prefer you use 32-bit. they even needed to tweak the driver to work with 4+ GB. they recommended people go back down to 2GB. no way am i going back down to 32-bit windows with 2 GB RAM.

Thats funny, I am running the 1600 with W7 64bit, and couldnt get it to work straight up. I uninstalled the WinTV progs and went with W7MC instead, but cannot get the MC Remote to work with the STB, tried many times.

Am thinking about pulling it out and trying it out on an XP 32bit box, but not sure, cuz its all working fine in W7

what i noticed is that after installing the 4.6 or 4.8 hauppauge driver, it obliterates the microsoft hauppauge 3/19/2009 driver. so now I can't go back to the MS driver so now Media Center is broken. and unfortunately, I didn't make a backup image and the system restore point I made can't be found.

I'm not going back to Windows XP. I think people forgot how installation of devices can be a nightmare with XP. but since this product was born in the XP days, maybe it's better with XP.

Yeah thats what happened to me, though I first installed the Huappauge 4.6 driver from the cd and it gave me an error, then I saw that W7 was trying to install an update for the 1600, and when I tried installing it failed, twice. so I then tried installing the beta 4.8 driver, and after that it looked better.

But digging more into the forums, and WMC I saw that I dont really need the WinTV software, so I deleted all of it.

Now I can get it to work fine, but using a Mexican Satellite and only thing I cant get to sync is the MC remote with the STB.

I might just buy another kit and install it on another box I can build, then try using XP.....maybe

i need WinTV or MediaPortal or some other alternative to work simply for the fact that I have a Hauppauge remote that is not a Media Center remote and won't work in Windows Media Center. plus WinTV is useful for recording off VCR and it has a back button for switching between tv stations.

what do you mean when you said it looked better after installing 4.8?

Well, when I first installed the 1600, I used the Drivers/Apps from the CD and recieved a bunch of errors, the app (WinTV) wouldnt open, I forget what error it gave me. So I checked the website and found the beta 4.8a drivers, downloaded, installed and didnt get any errors.

This is supposed to be a MCE remote, but the darn thing wont sync, not sure what to do, I posted a reply in another thread, and still waiting for an answer.

    Hi everyone.

I'm in canada and have cogeco, with a hauppauge 1800.

I can get analog working ok.

I have installed the hauppauge 4.6 drivers.

When i setup the tv in mce 7 it see's my qam cable and I'm able to scan.

When it's done scanning no channels are there it's just fuz.

Do you think this is an issue in canada only?
