Outlook 2007

I just got a new system with win 7. The shop installed Office 2007, even though I didn't specifically ask them to do that. The computer is for my sole Personal Use, i.e. it is NOT a Corporate Computer.

When I try to "go to an internet link" in an email I get the message you see in the attachment

I cant find anything in Outlook Options that would seem to be about such restrictions. Maybe its another Win 7 security feature - most of which seems to be designed to prevent me getting on with what I want to do.

I have an Office licence, including Outlook, along with the CD's so I can do a reinstall.

Found the solution

When you've ploughed though this discussion, you should end up at this MS FixIt

Forget all the babble about Google's Chrome, its a problem with that's arond for years. After applying the FixIt (otherwise known as a patch) I had to reinstate Firefox as my default browser.

Its a registry change, you can do it by IE Options or via regedit if you're that way inclined, full details are in kb article containing the FixIt.

So MS now send Mike the Mechanic to FixIt. It is said by some that computers are bad for children, but I think they are bad for adults because MS treats them like children. Its the same mentality that gave us UAC whose sole purpose is to relieve the user of the responsibility of behaving like a grown up. Who remembers Bob (not Bob the Builder, but Gates' BoB)
