How do I use Office 2010?

I'm very new to new computers, and my computer came bundled with Microsoft Office 2010... I'm very accustomed to using Office 2000, but have no idea how to work 2010. Half the things I don't even know what they are! I wasn't sure how to navigate through this seemingly endless sea of options, but finally figured out there are tabs for groups. I'm just completely unsure of how to use many of them, or what a lof of them do!! How do I save my work?

office changed a lot with the 2007 release. gone is the old menu bar, in is the ribbon.

microsoft decided that the menu bar was getting too big and cluttered, and it took an age to find the feature you wanted. so they replaced it with the 'ribbon' concept. all the features are still there, but presented differently.

yes it will come as a shock - yes you will think wtf? - yes you want the old system back - AND yes you will get used to the new way!

you just have to explore around a bit - it's pretty logically arranged.

to start you off, to save your work, either click on the blue floppy-disk icon far top-left, or click the big blue 'file' button to get more options - see attached picture.

microsoft are slowly moving a lot of their programs to this style of interface - have a look at the standard paint and wordpad on windows 7...

*edit* microsoft provide free online tutorials. i've never tried them, so can't vouch for their quality. i'm sure there are many more tutorials available, google is your friend.

Ahh! WOW! That is actually quite incredible, thank you for pointing that out to me.

Hmm, this will definitely take a lot of tinkering to get used to.

Yes, but I am quite certain I will figure it out eventually. After all, it's just a folding box. :)

24x86 If this MS Office 2010 is bundled trial-ware why don't you try Open Office Suit. It's is open source, compatible with certain versions MS Word & Excel & with a similar Ui to office 2000/2003. Ich
