    Outlook 2007 Performance

I recently installed a copy of Office Professional 2007 and have noticed that Outlook seems to lag a bit when I open (double-click) on an email, or when I go to reply to an email. Basically, the email "header" remains blank for a couple of seconds until the email is (for lack of a better explanation) 'processed' by Outlook. Anyways, I had another version of Office 2007 on this machine but uninstalled it completely to install the new 2007. It worked fine before with no apparent lag.

Any similar experiences or thoughts / suggestions?

    Thanks.

In my experience, outlook is a very bloated email client, and has become more so with newer revisions.

Have you thought about using a different email client? I have enjoyed my experiences with Mozilla's Thunderbird.

you could try a couple of things.

open outlook and click the "help" menu. select "office diagnostics" and/or try this: How to turn on the Enable Mail Logging option for troubleshooting in Outlook 2003, Outlook 2007 and Outlook 2010

LiquidSnak... I have used Thunderbird in the past and I suppose it's not really a bad program. I do like the functionality of Outlook though. I use it at work and at home and I am just used to it more than anything. I agree... it IS a bloated program. The only issue I'm experiencing is the slight 'lag' opening emails when I reply to them.

kword88... I ran the diagnostics and nothing was out of the ordinary. Thankfully. I MAY just try reinstalling Office and see if that helps.

do you have all the office 2007 service packs/patches/updates from windows update?

if you go to programs and features, in your installed programs list, highlight the office program and there should be an option to repair.

also, if you are running a real-time anti-virus/anti-malware program, that could cause a slight lag.

I will have to confirm all of the service packs, etc., but after I installed the program I updated the program. I haven't double-checked though. I run BitDefender, and was running it when I had the previous version of Office installed. I can't say that it is causing any glitches, etc.

I had Office Ultimate 2007 running perfectly on my machine prior to uninstalling and then installing 2007 Professional. I just assumed it would work the same.
