It didn't seem to work either. It recovered files that began with ~ or ~$ but I wasn't able to open any of those. I already made a fresh pot of coffee and began rewriting my lost content. I appreciate your responses Rich, thanks again + rep.

I am truly sorry, Many years since i was in College, but I remember the pressure. Straight A's in Math, straight D's in history, but had those history reports. Just what you are going through now.

I feel that the revision was never saved.

Dante, here's some miscellaneous help for recovering damaged Word files:

    Recovery Toolbox for Word:
In addition, here are two 3rd party apps that might just be able to help you.

ShadowExplorer.com - Downloads – Shadow Explorer is a 3rd party app similar to "Previous Versions,” for those editions of Vista and Windows 7 that do not offer Previous Versions. (and ShadowExplorer.com - Manual is the link to the “how to” instructions explaining how to utilize Shadow Explorer.)

Repair My Word is a data recovery program for Microsoft Word documents. It is designed to recover text from damaged or corrupt Word files (.doc files) that will not open normally. The recovered text can then be saved as an error free Microsoft Word document.
