Onenote and Windows Explorer Preview
Windows Explorer does a fine job at finding stuff.
Why is it that if i click on a result from a Onenote data file that it doesn't do anything?
Shouldn't it bring me directly to that data?

Not sure I understand the question. Whenever I click on a OneNote file via Explorer, it opens just fine. Does that not happen for you, or are you asking why you can't get to an individual note within a OneNote file, or maybe you're asking something else?
@Colonel Travis,
Not quite.
What i mean is... performing a search with WE (Windows key + F) brings up search window and then a list of results appear after querying? Right.
When i click on result that pertains to a Onenote item (no preview ever shows up btw) i am not directed to that item within the ON file.
If the item is a Word or other file type, no problem.
Ah, sorry. I always use the OneNote search box, but the Windows key + F method works for me - both the preview and going to the item. Maybe you don't have something clicked in the Search tab in the Folder Options menu? All my OneNote files are kept in the same folder, where the search options are just set to default. Do you store your OneNote files on a network?
One more thing, and I'm not sure if this is your problem or if you've already read about it, but searching for embedded files in OneNote via Windows Search is a pain.
Colonel Travis (have to read up my history books!),
Clicking on the found item fails but clicking on "open" link above works fine! Phew! Better than nothing.
Too bad "preview" fails to show anything.
Thanks for hanging in there! Looking up always helps.
Which version of onenote?
I have similar problems with visual studio 2005, even some older MS programs do not work too well with the shell in W7. But onenote 2010 SHOULD, but maybe not from 2005 or so...
fseal makes a good point. I'm using 2010.
I'm using 2010 as well.
Better integration with Windows Explorer would be a plus.
