Yes office 2010 not office 2010 starter
Honestly not trying to argue with you here so please don't take it that way I actually appreciate your input. SO it's a little confusing how MS words the different Office versions but I THINK it goes like this: Many PC's have Office starter and are preloaded with the full versions. One you purchase the appropriate product key card that can be bought alone or comes with the DVD you "unlock" the version you paid for. Now by unlock I am not sure if the files are already on the computer or if they end up being downloaded form MS or a little of both. As I said the boxed dvd version that I have does say if no dvd drive to download online. I also found this quote on this site, how would you read it?
Microsoft Office Starter 2010
Some of the Office Starter 2010 Marketing Restrictions and best practices are described below:
- The emphasis of any end user advertising should never be on Office Starter 2010. While this might seem surprising at first, research shows that advertising or promoting Office Starter 2010 will distract your customers and deter them from purchasing a full Office suite.
- Instead of focusing on Office Starter 2010, focus your messaging on the fact that the PC has been preloaded with Office 2010, and is ready for activation with the purchase of a Product Key Card or Traditional Disc.
- All of the following professionally written phrases can be used to describe preloaded PCs and have been shown to boost sales of full Office suites:
No offense taken; this is how the forum works. Ask as many questions as you like and I or any other member is free to answer.
What do you have on your computer?
If it says office starter, I stand by my position
If you have the full version, for a limited time, then just the key is necessary.
Good glad to hear . Actually I am picking up the computer from Fed Ex this afternoon and will set up tonight. Not sure if I will get to Installing Office tonight but will soon. I am just going buy the the specs (below) from Costco which in fact DOES stay office starter. I will post back when I install

Yeah I have 2003 at home and 2007 at work. I actually like the overall layout of 2003 better but 2007 is "prettier" From what I have researched 2010 is the best of both worlds. I tried Open Office on a older PC for a while and was not fond of it but to be honest I think I was just use to MS Office and never really gave it a chance.
I had the starter edition on my new Dell XPS x64 but bought the Office 2010 disk. I had tried Office 2007 on my old computer at work and really disliked it. Now that I've experienced 2010 for a while and found it cumbersome, I'm going back to 2003.

I am just wondering did you install the 64 bit version or the 32 bit, Microsoft recommends the 32 bit version over the 64 bit because I have noticed a little lag or if you could say cumbersome with the 64 bit version over the 32 bit .
I killed the starter version and just installed the "real deal." I've used 2010 and actually like some parts of it. Outlook is, however, a flat out pain to navigate. I simply do not care to mess with that silly ribbon. Word is okay but they back to the ribbon and, for some reason, I really dislike having to navigate that thing.
