    Outlook 2010 Problem

I run Outlook 2007 and have never had this problem.

A good friend of mine runs Outlook 2010 (also on 64 bit win 7) and has a weird problem. He claims (though I have not seen it myself) that sometimes, after he receives a number of emails (prior to reading them) that a single email will "disappear" after re-opening Outlook at a later time and then later reappear all by itself the next day when he runs Outlook again.

Although this doesn't sound terribly credible he has told me that this has happened three or four times.
Does this ring any "Bells" out there - Any ideas. He wants my help in fixing this.

For now I told him to carefully record the Address and any any other noticeable details of the emails that supposedly disappear/reappear to see if their is anything in common between them.

    Hi, thehappyman! :)

I have not seen such activity with my Outlook but that does not necessarily mean your friend is not experiencing the issue. Find out if the email accounts exhibiting this behavior are IMAP or POP based accounts. That may help narrow down the cause and resultant possible solutions.

    Hi mikedl - I'm 99.9% sure the account is a POP3 account

    Hi,

I use Outlook2010 exclusively, and haven't yet seen this behaviour. It sounds like it could be a server side refresh, but that would only? happen with IMAP accounts? and not POP3?

Keep us informaed...it sounds like an interesting issue.

    Hi, again, the happyman. :)

Does your friend access the POP accounts from another device such as a smart phone or another computer? If so, there are a few settings to check but we won't worry about those until we know the answer to the question.

No, it is POP3 and my friend only accesses his account from one PC - as I said, this is a problem my Friend reported - I haven't seen it myself and he cant reproduce it at will so it's possible it's something he's doing (he's not terribly "computer literate"). I'll keep you posted and thanks for the help !!!! :):):)
