Weird white boxes?

I'm currently using Microsoft Office 2007 on Windows 7 Ultimate, 32-Bit.
I noticed that there's these weird white boxes on the top and bottom of the document page whenever I open Word, like what the picture shows. Anyone know what these are? And if I can get rid of them, how so?

They're called "Crop Marks."

To remove, open the Word page with the problem, click on the Word orb, scroll down to Word Options, and select Advanced.
Scroll down to Show document content, and UNcheck “Show Crop Marks”
When you're done, be sure to specify Compatibility Options (at the bottom of the screen) to select this option for this document only, or other choices.

White boxes on desktop shortcuts
I find these white boxes on top of my desktop shortcuts. Have a look at the CCleaner shortcut in the photo, that's what I'm talking about. How can I fix this problem? P.S. Please don't suggest sfc scannows or resetting iconcaches, I've tried them both.

Okay, been playing around with Vista Style Builder, and got an image into my start menu which I'm quite happy with. Weird boxes.
A few days ago I noticed that I had some symbols in my playlist for itunes and they turned into boxes. I didn't think too much of it and was going to get the alt codes for them again. Today, I notice I have these weird boxes in my volume control. There's nothing really wrong, it just bothers...
