missing synonym in ms word 2003 with windows 7

I recently install windows 7 professional to upgrade my windows XP but the synonym feature in MS Word 2003 is not there anymore as it was when i still used XP. I have tried to reinstall the MS Office, update the windows, set up the language as well as the office shared feature from the control panel.

Anyone encountered this problem and solved it?

It has been a long time since I used Office 2003, so my memory is vague.

I think I would try Detect and Repair:
On the Word Help menu, click on Detect and Repair.
Follow the Wizard and see if that fixes your issue. You may be required to insert your Office disk, if your Office files are not stored on disk.

it's solved by installing MS Office 2010 [still no change in the 2003 one, the synonym is still not working...doesn't matter]

Have you tried the Thesaurus feature? It gives you synonym information plus a whole lot more?

I did not think too much of it, except that later I was sending an e-mail and attached...
