I have Office 2007 and Visio Pro 2007, on Win7 64bit, but this fix works for other (e.g. XP) version as well.
Since I installed Win7, I've been having problems with updates to Office. The batch of Feb 8 2011 security updates today was no different.
I found this link Error code "0x80070646," "646," or "1606" when you try to install Office updates and it solved all my issues.
I hope this isn't already posted. I tried to search here but things are s l o w (I'm guessing due to the security updates today and questions/issues resulting from them.)
I wanted to pay this site back for the help it provided, so rather post a dup than keep it to myself.
