Google Docs/Word 2007 Lost File

Hi,

I have been working on a school report for the past few days on Google Docs (so I could access it from home and school). Now that I am done modifying the document at school, I exported the file as a Word document. In my stupidity, I clicked 'Open' instead of 'Save' when downloading the file, so I am assuming it saved in some temporary folder. I have been putting the finishing touches on for about an hour, saving every few minutes. However, I just realized that I never selected a location to save to, so I have most likely been saving to some temporary Word location.

Is there a temporary location where Word saves documents downloaded from the Internet? If so, what can I do to find the location and recover the document?

I am running Windows 7, Internet Explorer 9, and Word 2007 if that helps.

I find that one of the most useful 'tools' in Windows 7 is the search box at the bottom of the pop-up when you press the 'Start' button.

Press Start, in the box above begin typing the name of your lost file - keeping an eye on the menu offerings above. Hopefully your file will appear, then you can touch it to open it.

Thank you for the suggestion, but I have already tried it, to no avail. I am pretty sure of the document name, but I don't know if Word changed the name or saved it to a temporary file when I was saving.

Take a look at this post from A Guy:
Internet Explorer download location?

Hopefully it will help.

When you open Word, click on File > Recent and look in the list - is the doc listed there?

If so, open it then click on File > Save As and save it in the desired location (like the Desktop) and give it a name.

If it isn't list under Recent, see the replies above.
