Guys any noticeable differences, performance or features from the previously leaked 14.0.4006.1008 build.

I know the other leaked one 14.0.4032 or something was meant to be pretty buggy and people had issues un-installing?

Ps hiya from Sunny South Africa...:)

Unable to uninstall Office 2010 Technical Preview

I've installed (and much enjoyed) the Technical Preview of Office 2010. :) Now I've obtained a copy of the Beta version, but I can't install it because I can't completely uninstall the Tech Preview version. I've tried everything but there must be still remains left because the Beta version KEEPS telling me that I can't upgrade from the Tech Version.
I have been able to reinstall a full version of Office 2007 that I own, but I really want to follow the development of 2010.
Can anyone suggest how I can remove the partial remains of the Mondo installation???

The mondo version was a hacked version of the Technical Preview, which was widely available on torrent sites.. Unfortunately we can not offer support for pirated software..

This thing won't install on my windows 7 x64 system. I downloaded the bootstrap for home and business. The download did fine. But when I click on it to install, it keeps asking for a drive "Q" to install on. I created a drive Q, but now it keeps saying drive Q is not available or in use. What is going on? I tried to run from the bootstrap instead of saving it, same thing. It looks for the mysterious drive Q.

Looks as if you have a bad download - the Q drive is a virtual drive used to store the applications from the Home & business Click-2-Run Version of office 2010.

remove the drive you have created - if possible uninstall any entries you can.

Re download the installer and try again - it should automatically create the virtual Q drive during the installation

There is a special uninstall application available on the connect site that may be downloaded by those participating in the technical preview

    My installation of Office 2010

Thanks Barman58. Removing any reference to a Q drive did the trick. My dvd drive was set to Q initially. I renamed it and created a Q empty drive but it didn't like that either. So I deleted all references to Q as you suggested and it started installing. Here's what happened afterward.

It did step 1 to 3 in a flash but then got into step 4 of 4 and stayed there for nearly 24 hours. it was not doing much according to my process monitor. I let it take its sweet time. It wasn't bothering me. As a matter of fact my puter went to sleep.

During the time it was allegedly doing something in step 4, I couldn't run the office apps that were appearing on my start menu. It kept saying "you can't run the bootstrap while it's repairing or deleting the office application. Wait to finish the current operation and try again". I was not repairing or deleting anything. Not really a very helpful message.

After 24 hours I said enough is enough. I cancelled the "set up step 4 of 4" and stopped two processes of the bootstrap and the smiley and frowny stuff. I clicked Excel on my start menu and lo and behold I started seeing something. It said "microsoft office appears to be unresponsive but it is downloading stuff for my application". Two minutes later, it opened an excel sheet. It did the same for all the office apps and tools that I initiated. I didn't get into the nuts and bolts of using the applications and tools but I am assuming it DID install them. Unfriendly installation and lack of feedback as to what is going on are understatements. I hope that will be fixed in the final release.

I'll write back with feed back soon as I start using the apps.

Thanks again Barman. Ill post you a rep for helping me with the initial hurdle of the Q drive.

The click to run delivery service is a beta technology being used to deliver a beta product - I suppose that a number of issues are to be expected.

The whole point of the delivery system is to save large downloads - a lot of users will only perhaps use word and excel from the whole office suite, and only a small percentage of these applications.

the Idea with click to run is that you only download and install the stuff you actually use and only as you use it. of course the parts you download are only downloaded once then work as a standard application.

I can see this being useful in corporate scenarios where the download would be from a local company server and thus at LAN speeds, if it is tied into licensing structures it could also help reduce business costs, which is something that is always being sought
