    Outlook 2010 - bug: Subject disappears when appointment resized

    All,

    I am posting this as a warning and hoping that someone might be aware of a solution. With a fully patched Win 7 x64 Pro system with Office 2010 (x86) Pro Plus: If I resize an appointment in the Calender, the Subject disappears. This seems to happen repeatably.

    Hi,

    Can you give more explanation about what you mean when you say "resize"? What calender View are you working with (e.g. Day, Week or Month)?

    Golden,

    Thanks for asking a clarifying question. I almost always work in Week mode. By 'resize', I mean to drag the border of the appointment to change its start or stop time.

    FYI: I just tried resizing an appointment and the subject did not disappear. This is the same appointment I used last evening to verify the problem and it happened then. Since last evening, the computer has been in StandBy mode and Outllook was not exited.

    Grumble - an intermittent problem - nothing worse....

    Ah OK. I understand now. Yep, I just did some checking by dragging to change the times, and even across into other days, but don't loose the subject title. Perhaps it is intermittent as you say, or I wonder if it is related to very long subject titles?

    I do not think so. When the problem occurred the other evening, the subject line was shorter than 20 characters.

    I have the same issue: sometimes the header dissapears, sometimes it doesn't. There seems no pattern to emerge that describes why it dissapears and to me it seems like a bug..

    Any ideas on how to solve this? It is quite anoying to be re-editing the header of the meetings everytime, especially when the update is send to other people.

    kind regards,

    The same issue appears to have been resolved here:
    Outlook 2010: Subject deleted when calendar entry is extended or - Microsoft Answers

    Can you repro this issue in Outlook Safe Mode?
    Start-> type; outlook.exe /safe
    (note the space in the command)

    If it works now, your issue is most likely caused by an add-in.
    Which add-ins do you have installed?

    Disable them all and see if the issue still occurs. If not, you can enable them one-by-one to find the culprit. For details see;
    Enable/Disable add-ins | MSOutlook.info

    Also note that after extending an appointment or meeting directly in the calendar,

    the cursor would become active in the subject field of the item which could allow for easy/accidental overwriting.
