Outlook 2010 will not install on windows 7

I cannot re-install my stand alone version of outlook 2010. Did all the usual, remove, ccleaner, ms cleaner. Can install outlook 2007 without an issue - go figure.

I keep getting an error that says I need to run windows 7. What the...I already am. My OS is windows 7 64. Anyone have any suggestions. Spent over 12 hair pulling hours trying to get this resolved already. It did work before but I had some idiots (ms certified techs???)screw with my computer, said it was infected (stopzilla idiots) left outlook 2010 non functioning, so I tried to fix it myself but I've been striking out.

    Welcome to our Forum Rich...

Our crystal ball is very clouded ATM - would you mind providing some history / outline of how
some camel jockeys (ms certified techs???)screwed with my computer.....
It would be helpful from our perspective to know what has already been attempted to solve this problem / or any other you had..
    TIA.

I'm not sure what they did - I'm not a tech. They did go into msconfig and change some settings and do several scans with other programs they had downloaded to my system & then removed them. All I know is the anti virus program they were trying to sell me didn't work (Stopzilla), they went to another site to get some other programs to run on my system, chrged me a bunch of money (got a refund) and then I found out they have a long list of complaints of doing this to people.

As I mentioned - I removed Outlook 2010 with revo, tried to reinstall it and now all I get is an error telling me I need to run Windows 7, which is already running. This is the first MS program I've ever had so much difficulty getting installed. Inital message did say something about a registry error & not have the correct permissoin even though I am logged in as administrator.

This is a downloaded, stand alone version of outlook. When I try to use the online installer I get an error messsage 1402. Maybe I need a new key ? even though it accepts the one I put in.

Thank you, I really thought it was going to work. Installer ran for several minutes, much longer than previously.

Install concluded with " Microsoft Installer has encountered an error". THE END.

    Brilliant.... no other info.

Just in case something in your Windows 7 installation was affected by the Revo removal of Outlook, you could first try an SFC scan:
SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Once that is complete, try the installer again.

I am curious re your comments above.....
"They" were obviously NOT Microsoft Techs who "fiddled" with your computer.

    Beware “scareware” programs.
They exploit a person’s fear of online viruses and security threats.
The scams has many variations, but one of the tell tale signs is that THEY need to solve " your problem".

Have you run a full scan of SuperAntiSpyware or Malwarebytes since this happened?
    {Plus run a full Anti Virus Scan?}

Yeah, obviously....a scam. Unfortunately the product used to work quite well but now they've decided to scam people with their newest or updated version. Amazingly the same virus's and spyware still showed up when I did a rescan with their product. That's how I knew it was a 'phantom'.

I downloaded some 'free' remoaval programs that I researched first to make sure they had a good following. They cleaned up and removed any and all malware, spyware & virus's and the system ended up running much better....ALL for FREE.

So yes, best to do an online check for complaints FIRST before you spend any money.

Now all i wish I could do is get Outlook 2010 running again, only have had it for a few months, still need to figure out what the issue is.

Now that you have dealt with the rogues on your system, maybe try uninstalling Outlook again with Revo - then reboot and reinstall.

    Thank you all who responded.

I decided to 'bite the bullet' and call Microsoft. Seems I was entitled to free support after all.

It took the ms tech about 2 1/2 hrs to get it re installed and working but still with minor issues which the tech said another tech would call back tonite to resolve.... i hope.
