    Outlook 2010 won't open

I have Outlook 2010 32 bit running on a Windows 7 64 bit machine. Outlook 2010 stopped opening the other day. I click on the icon to initiate and it goes through its normal start up process but the window will not display. I get an icon that sits on the tool bar and if I right click I can open and perform all other tasks such as create new email, appt etc. There are no error messages. I am able to start it in safe mode. I have tried the resetnavpane, uninstall and reinstall and regedit to delete the profiles as seen in other posts. Nothing has worked so far. Any suggestions?

Hello DDPCPA, welcome to the forum.

    Have you tried a repair?:
    Repair or remove Office 2010 - Outlook - Office.com
    .
    .

    Repair your Office 2010 programs

Repair your Office 2010 programs by doing the following:

    1. Click Start, then click Control Panel.
    2. Click Programs and Features.
    3. Click the Office 2010 program that you want to repair, then click Change.
    4. Click Repair, then click Continue. You might need to restart your computer after the repair is complete.
    I hope that helps. :)

    Outlook 2010 Repair

    hi pal!!

may be the outlook version you are using have some compatibility issues with the windows, you should first try to run your outlook in some other operating system and check if it works there. if it doesn't then scan it with scanpst.exe to see if there is any damaged data etc.

if all these stuffs doesn't work, you can re-repair the outlook with third party Outlook 2010 repair software.

    Good luck!!!!!!

I have the same problem. I have
    • Reinstalled the entire Office package several times - incl. shifted drive
    • Repaired the Office installation several times
    • Removed/uninstalled all Add Ins
    • Deleted the profile in the registry
Mails can be created using the link, and by clicking the "new mail alert" I can even read and reply to e-mails. All other Office products works as a clock. But the Outlook Inbox is not showing/coming starting as described in the quote.

I am - however - able to open the inbox using SAFE mode (outlook.exe /safe in the CMD line) - but this is not a permanent solution.

    Any ideas?

Thank you for your rapid response. However, all proposals in the thread suggested is already tried without success before I posted my problem.

I am still running the SAFE mode.

    Just a few random thoughts...

    * If you right click the Outlook Icon > Run as Administrator...
Does Outlook now open / work as expected?

    * If the problem doesn't appear when you're running in Safe Mode could it be a misbehaving add-in that's causing grief?
Navigate to Add-ins and see if there's anything there you can disable.
    { If you have an iTunes add-in disable it. It's really only useful if you're synchronizing Outlook to your iPhone or iPod.}

    *
    Is Outlook up-to-date?
    Did Outlook ever work?
Does Outlook still work for other users on the computer?
    Safe Mode
    Disable add-ins
Use scanpst.exe to fix Outlook Data File errors
    Recreate your mail profile
Run a Repair, Office Diagnostics or reinstall Office/Outlook

Thanks for all input. Outlook start working after installing a "bunch of" security updates. Since I did not think this was related, I did not notice which ones.

    But - problem is fixed...
