How many times can I use my Office software

I have MS Office Home and Student 2007 which I bought and installed on two of my machines.

How many times can I install this software using that activation code as I build or refurbish old machines?

Good question but I've had no issues loading my Office '07 on 4 machines and many times on my laptop due to hard drives crashing and a couple of times on each desk top due to SSD's and other issues. Have had no issues to date but I'm curious myself to learn if there is someone somewhere watching the number of times I've loaded it!

Licence allows for one desktop and one laptop - so looks like you have already hit your limit

    Oh bugga

Oh well thats it then cos I just downloaded it on my other desktop - 2 Desktops and one laptop.

Just like linnemeyerhere I've done it several times on the laptop through doing factory defaults and two reinstalls of 7 on the build.

With Office Home & Student 2003 & 2007 I have used them as per the below quote...

To the best of my knowledge that rule has always applied to the Home & Student version.

How many licenses /installations are allowed with the traditional Office discs version? The number of installations will vary depending on the Office suite purchased. The disc version of Office Home and Student 2010 allows a user to install one copy of the software on up to three PCs in a single household for non-commercial use.

    Thanks JMH

Yeah thought as much - anyhow I've installed Open Office instead it's probably just as good and we won't have to worry that M$ will come calling in the wee hours of the morning eh?

I'm just disappointed that M$ is so greedy when it it comes to us mortals and companies can get it for next to nothing if they agree to take part in that development thing ?MSDN.

Well at least I saw one fellow out here on a local forum bragging about getting 7 and the like for $20 cos he worked for a company in that manner and referred to us the commoners I think was his term paying full price - didn't sit well with me I can assure M$

The Product Key can be used for up to Three PCs at one time.

You can reintall Office over and over with no issuses, as long as you stay within the three PC limit.
How Microsoft keeps track of that is anyones guess. Ive been running Office on Three PC's with several reinstalls with no problem on the same product code.

    Here's the license text:

    http://download.microsoft.com/docume...6bca63054a.pdf

1.1. (Retail) reads: "These license terms permit installation and use of a copy of the software on three devices, along with other rights, all as described below."

2.1. (OEM) reads: "These license terms permit installation and use of one copy of the software on one device, along with other rights, all as described below."

So it really depends whether the licensing scheme is oem or retail.

It is an honor system. Depends how honorable you are. The EULA says 3.

    Just curious

My retail disk supplied version says "3 Home PC Licenses" on the pack.
It is activated on 2 PCs and I assume I have one activation left.
I wasn't aware of any "honor" system.
