A strange thing is happening on one of my Excel spreadsheets.
If I put a value in cell A and another in B and use cell C for the result of my calculation, cell C produces a blank. Cell C, however, does show what is input directly to it.
Please! Why is that happening and what is the cure?

It was a very simple one. By example
Cell A value 455 Cell B value 0.80 Cell C = value cell A/ value cell B. Result in cell C shoulld be 568.75, but cell C remains blank
Assuming we're using cells A1, B1 and C1 all you need is this formula in C1:
=A1/B1
where A1 contains the number 455 and B1 contains the number 0.80
In other words, all you are telling C1 to do is divide the contents of A1 by the contents of B1.
Yes, I know that and that is what I am doing. The question is why am I seeing a blank in the result cell.
I don't have that version of Excel but I wonder if you have some sort of rule set (conditional formatting) where it blanks the cell when a particular condition is present? When you select cell C1 do you see the formula there?
What do you see in the Formula bar for the calculation?
Also, have you checked the formatting for Column C?
There should be no reason why a simple formula like that shouldn't work. The only thing that I can think of is that one (or both) of the data type(s) is/are incompatible with the function you are trying to use with them, or that the destination location is formulated as being of an incompatible data type for the result of the said function.
Try selecting the whole worksheet and setting its data type to General to see if that resolves your issue.
Hmmm... This one has been tagged as solved but what was the solution? It might help someone else with the same problem later on.
