Office 2010 Activation Problem on Newly installed Windows 7

    Hey there,

Just a bit of background: I recently upgraded my fiancée's fathers compaq laptop from Vista to Windows 7 Professional with the student upgrade package offer. In doing I chose a custom install and the old files are still stored on the computer.

The problem came when I attempted to install Office Academic 2010 back onto the laptop. This version of Office was another purchase using student deals so the product key could be used on 2 different computers (my fiencées laptop and her dads laptop). The laptop previously had the same version of Office before the upgrade to windows 7. However, now windows 7 is loaded, when I try to install Office 2010 it claims that the Office key is incorrect and refuses to accept it and install.

I'm usually ok with sorting these kinds of things out but i'm pretty stumped as to where to go with this and the Microsoft Office site is...shall we say less than helpful.

    Thanks for any help!

P.S If this is already in another thread i'm happy to accept a re-direction, but I couldn't find anything of this nature.

This is the UK MS activation center. I would call them to sort it out.

    Hey there!

First of all I apologise for the late reply. I have been rather busy lately and only just sorted this out.

Secondly I found that the code was wrong. I must have been using the one I used to activate the version of Windows 7. I used ProduKey ti find the key form the other computer that Office was installed upon, transfered it across and it worked first time.

Thanks for the advice anyway. I'm going to save that number because I have a friend who's computer's code isn't activating so that number will come in handy.

    Thanks again
