    Hi Cetrax

I can't really comment about the United States but I have worked for several colleges in the UK and you would be amazed at the differences in the software used.

If you are going to enrol with a specific college, it would be a good idea to give them a phone call and ask them what software they are using and also where you can get a copy from. Sometimes a Student copy will be available at a much reduced cost.

There is nothing worse than a situation where you create files at college, put them on to a usb device to view them at home and find that they don't work because your software is incompatible.

    Hope This Helps

    Regards

    Tony

    You're very welcome.

What did you decide to buy, if any?

    Hello,
I have two options. Office Professional Academic 2010 or Office Home and Student 2010. Which one is better? Thanks..

Here's a comparison - you'll have to determine what applications/features are important to you, and at what monetary cost:

    Re which suite to buy??

    Hi

    Academic gives you

Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook, Publisher, and Access
For about $100 from Microsoft, for 1 copy student registration required.

Normal Student Home Edition gives you

Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote only
For about $105 for 3 copies

In my book Academic wins out 10 fold because I use Outlook and Access all the time, and it's got a good chance Access will be part of your college course.

    Hope this helps
