I based my reply on the last screen shot in post #4.

I found a possible walkaround in this thread:
Resizing the ribbon in OneNote 2010: an introduction - OneNote Testing - Site Home - MSDN Blogs
    .
    1. Click on the arrow on the quick access toolbar and select "show below ribbon".

    2. Minimize ribbon

    3. Customize quick access by adding all or your essential tools. Moving it below the ribbon gives you the length of the screen to fill with tools you want instant access to.

That is how I've been using Office 2010 since it came out. However, the OP wanted to maximize height of the screen, thus move the Quick Access Toolbar to the Title bar and have fewer tools visable.

Unfortunately, I do not have a tablet to simulate the problem.

However, should my research reveal anything which might assist, I will post back.

I think the OP needs to clarify the requirements and answer questions already asked.

As I see it, in post #1 Lady had Quick Access Toolbar above the ribbon and in post #4 it was below.

I think the workaround Irene found offers an option to not even needing to use the ribbon...

This may just be an issue of learning to use the Ribbon as designed in newer MS products...

Well, compared to normal microsoft products, the Ribbon would definetely be smaller than what Im having now. The Ribbon that Im having now is much larger than normal as well as other features of the product. Try print screening your microsoft products and compare it with mine.

I'm just going to give my opinion here. These are screen shots of my Office 2010 products. I have a feeling that because your computer is a tablet, it has made all the icons larger so they are easier to touch.

    This is my word 2010

Here is a screen print for one of my "Word displays".
I see it is different than yours...
Would this be ok for you?
