Word.doc has non-merging background colour

Hello Everyone,

I use MS Office 2010. Whenever I copy something in Word from the Net, the background of the text carries the background colour of the web-page from which it is copied. Please see the screenshot below.



I used to get rid of it easily in Office 2003 and I am sure it should be quite easy to do so in Office 2010. But I have tried everything and I can't. Could someone please show me how to do it so that the background colour becomes the default colour and merges with the colour at the borders.

So it is a difficult nut to crack after all. No suggestions even after 24 hours. Perhaps I have to live with this idiosyncrasy in Word.

The answers to your questions are as under.

1. I generally use Chrome but other browsers (Opera and IE9) are no different.

3. Yes. You can also see for yourself.
4. Manually highlighting the text with the mouse and then copying from the Context Menu.
5. Pasted as text but with a coloured background.

Be that as it may, there must be a very simple way to get rid of the background in the Word applet. Of course I do have a work around by first pasting the text in WordPad and then copying it from WordPad to Word. But the point is why I am unable to edit in Word itself.

I am using a blank document with no template.

Thanks Duzzy for your last paragraph. There were four not three options and pasting with the last two options removes the ugly background.

However, the case is true with Chromium-based browsers (may be even Webkit-related).

There are several solutions for Word:

Solution 1. Click a little arrow on Paste button (Office 2010 ribbon) - Paste options: Keep text only.

Solution 2. After pasting text with highlighting, apply Normal Quick Style to it using corresponding button on the ribbon.

Solution 3. After pasting text with hithlighting, go to Page Layout tab - Page Borders - Shading tab - Fill -> No Color; Apply to -> Paragraph.

Solution 4. Use macros from first link below.

Solution 5. Change browser for nonChromium-based. (Sad, but true. No offence!)
