send/receive is stuck after having changed filenames of 2 pst files

By mistake I changed the two pst filenames within windows explorer (Windows7 and Office 2010) instead of just changing the names in the navigation pane of outlook.
    Now send/receive no longer works.
After trying to rechange the names in windows explorer to the previous verion I get the message: operation can not be executed because windows search Protocol host ist open.
What should I do as somebody who is not a professional. ?

Can you fix this by setting the file names in Outlook?

In Outlook 2010 click on "File", then click on Account Settings.

Look at the "Data Files" tab.
See if you can use "Add" and/or "Remove" to set Outlook to the correct PST files.

Maybe the file is corrupted already, you can not use it properly and normally.

Just to clarify, did you rename the whole file, that is wiped out the extension?

change of name of a .pst outlook file

    thanks for the advice.
In the meantime I found a satisfactory solution. I went to an 8 days old previous version of files in windows 7. That is the version that existed before I made the mistake. From there I imported the two pst files in my current outlook version and everything went fine again.
