    Preview Problem

I'm using Word 2002 + Windows 7 and can't preview Word documents in the preview pane (although pdf's and webpages work fine). Is there anything I can do?

    thanks.

I assume you mean Print Preview. Print Preview works only when your system has atleast one printer configured. Even Adobe Acrobat printer will do.

When there are no printers configured for your system usually the print preview does not work.

To get preview of the first page of Word document in windows explorer, open the word document in word, go to the document's properties in File menu and in Summary tab, put a check mark on "Save preview picture". apply OK and save the document again.

Thanks for the suggestion. I was referring to the Preview Pane in Windows Explorer, so I could have a look at a file before opening it. I tried clicking the"Save Preview Picture" box and saving the file that way but I still don't get a preview.

Before posting my second post, I have tried myself and confirmed it that it is working.

Before the above procedure, I did not get the page preview, but afterwards, I got the preview. I am not sure what could be the problem in your system.

    Please try this link

One probable answer from the above webpage is

I found a solution that seems to have worked for me. In Microsoft Word I went to:

Office Button -> Word Options -> Resources, and clicked on "Run Microsoft Office Diagnostics." It took a while. It found one installation issue as the very last test of 40 tests. I closed Word and re-opened, and the previews are now working again.

You must be talking about the THUMBNAIL view?

If so, under the Control Panel (make sure you change the view by to large or small icons to achieve a detailed list of what is in the CP) and enter / choose the Folder Options the Popup Window will have a view tab, select it. Then make sure the first option is UNCHECKED and the third option is CHECKED this way you can see the default program icon on the thumbnail view.

You can set the default views for all folder windows GLOBALLY by opening a window choosing the Tools on the file menu in the window, and options, then select /deselect the option in the advances settings under view, and click Apply To Folders...

    Cheers...

Also if you patronize CODEC.com there is a Windows Tweak tool that allows you further tweak Windows 7 for thumbnail viewing of .flv, .wmv, .mp3, .mp4, .mkv, and any other A/V files as well.
