    ClearType purple letters

Some letters, especially l, i, and j, all have a slight purple tinge with ClearType on, using Arial (and possibly other fonts) at sizes below 12 on 100% page size. I do not want to turn ClearType off as then all the fonts look worse.

This happened after I tried fiddling with the ClearType settings. I reverted them back to the default (1st on the 1st screen, 2nd on the 2nd, 1st on the 3rd, and 2nd on the 4th) that it had been before, but the purple remained. I also did a system restore to before I had fiddled with ClearType, but the purple still remains. What should I do?

    Been There

Someone might come up with something. I have seen it on my rigs. I don't think it is a font problem. I never tried but it probably is a color or display problem. Mine has never been bad enough for me to start tweaking.

Seriously, I ended up turning ClearType off. I'd rather have jagged type than headache-inducing blurred type.
If only 7 kept XP style smoothing.
