I just want to get this clear before I uninstall 32-bit Office 2010 and install the 64-bit version:

Are you syncing with the 64-bit version of Office 2010 or
the 32-bit version of Office 2010 installed 64-bit Windows 7?
I am using Office x64 on Windows 7 x64.

If you run 64bit office you need 64bit itunes, if your running 32bit office you need 32bit itunes. Thanks again apple for screwing things up.

I guess they figure if you're running 32-bit you would want both programs in 32-bit anyways, and the same for x64. Which actually makes sense if you're only talking about Office 2010, and Apple is not known for their interest in backwards compatibility...

I just upgraded to Office 2010 from 2007 and my I touch syncs just fine. I'm using 64 bit Windows 7 Pro and iTunes (probably 64 bit, not sure)
The OP in this thread posted back in 2009...which they were using Beta Office 2010. Not sure if Apple, MS or both changed anything, but I made the upgrade to 2010 over the weekend and my contacts, email, etc., now sync fine. When I tested Beta Office 2010, this did not work.

Food for thought

It works fine if you use the disc version or download the 32 or 64 downloads. If you buy the key card version Microsoft tries to have you download the 'Click to Run' version unless you switch to the 'Advanced Download Options'. That's where I think the issue is.

Let's clear up a few things, so there's no more confusion. First, don't sweat over the fact you may only have Office 2010 x86. There's little to no reason to use the x64 version, and Microsoft themselves have pretty much warned against the x64 version unless you are a developer. The warning message is on the TechNet home page.

Second, you don't need your versions to match. I sync my iPhone over the air using Exchange, but my wife's still uses iTunes. We are running the latest 9.2 Build, x64 version of iTunes on her Win 7 Home Premium x64 laptop, which has Outlook 2010 x86 installed, and she's able to sync her calendar and contacts just fine.

Again, I think the issue was just with the 'Click to Run' version which is what Micrsoft defaults to when you follow the instructions on the 'Product Key Card' version.

I actually installed the 64 bit version and haven't run into issues yet. Though i'm thinking I might uninstall it and go to 32 bit

Actually Office 2010 x64 is much faster. I've had no problems at all so far. Definitely nice if you don't have to have the same "flavor" of Office and iTunes just to sync, though!

Then I think i will hold on to 64 bit for now

I'm using the 64 bit version both for Office and Itunes.
Thanks Adrian,
I installed Office 2010 x64. iTunes x64 syncs with Outlook no problems.
For those who use Task Managers such as ToDo and Toodledo, the Toodledo Sync Tool for Outlook also works with 64 bit Outlook.
