Unable to insert audio file in Microsoft Office 2010 Powerpoint

    Hi, all

I am trying to insert an audio file inside my powerpoint slide, but when I have chosen the audio file to add, powerpoint then turns unable to respond. Can anyone provide any possible reason for this? My friend can easily add same audio file inside my powerpoint.

    Thanks very much.

Hello cui, and welcome to Sevenforums.

Do you mean that your friend can easily add the same audio file to his own powerpoint (and not your own)?

You might try to repair office. Go to your control panel>uninstall programs and select office, and click Change. Then select Repair.

No documents/files will be replaced or deleted.

Then make sure you have all updates installed for the office programs, and make sure your version is activated

Thank you for the suggestions. I have tried to repair Powerpoint 2010 even to reinstall the entire software. But it seems like the problem stays unsolved.
I should have made my description clearer. The problem is when I insert audio file to a powerpoint ,the powerpoint turns unable to respond. I have to force close the software. Both powerpoint file and audio file should be OK since my friend can use her powerpoint to edit.
And I don't think there is anything wrong with the software. I guess maybe there is something wrong with the my system set-up.

I have uploaded the problem screen capture video onto youtube.

    Take a look please. Thanks.

MAte, these are the compatibile audio file formates that you can use with powerpoint: Compatible audio and video file formats in PowerPoint 2010 - PowerPoint - Office.com

Check event viewer for the error in powerpoint: What information appears in event logs (Event Viewer)? - as well, see if you have any add-ins. Go to File/Options/Add-ins and list what you see.

Something else to try: make sure you have all windows updates installed, including the ones for office.
Make sure all drivers are installed, especially the one for your graphics card.
If you give me the name of your computer, I can help you find drivers, if you haven't already. Consider updated old drivers to the newest available.

    Issues solved

My notebook is Lenovo Thinkpad. A factory installed software called Corel DVD caused this minor problem. My ppt now works perfectly after uninstalling this software.
