I'm a syfy writer and in Word 7 I've created custom macros, assigned icons to these macros and arranged them on the quick access tool bar. Every time I get a new PC it makes me crazy. Although I can transfer the macros I don't know how to transfer the icons I've assigned or how I've arranged them on the quick access tool bar. Does anyone know a way to transfer this information?

Of course, by "Word 7" you mean Word from Office 2007, because real "Word 7" is from Office 95 package, which was release 17 years ago. There were no quick access toolbars in MS Office packages at the time
In Office 2007 Quick Acces Toolbar settings are stored in .qat files in
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Office
For Win 7 it is the same folder as
C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office
So you can back them up and move to a new system.
For Office 2010 and 2013 those files have .officeUI extension, because tabs are customizable too.
I have used that idea for an automatic solution in my
Quick fix for CAPITAL LETTERS in Office 2013 ribbon.
There is a self-extracting archive, which extracts those files directly to mentioned folder.

This, if it works (I'll try it when I'm more awake, lol), is an answer I've been looking for for years. Thank you so much. I'd about given up.
So let me see if I have this right:
a) The macros can be stored either normal.dot or probably more correctly in Book Manuscript.dot (so they only exist in documents based on this template).
b) Both the macros placement on the QA tool bar and the icon assigned to the macros are stored in the word.qat file in the folder you indicated under the user.
Correct?
