    Live Mail keeps checking for mails at start-up

    Hi all;

    Although the boxes about checking for mails at start-up and checking every such-and-such minutes are disabled in the options-menu, live mail keeps checking for mails at start-up.

    Any idea would be appreciated very much,

    cheers and thanks

    Aki

    PS.: it also doesn't sort mails with the "to"-tag, while with "from"- and "date"-tags, it does

    Hello aki108, welcome to Seven Forums.

    Perhaps the information in this thread will help:

    The polling settings are on the General tab of the program options sheet (Ctrl-Shift-O). POP3 accounts will honour the settings you make there. HTTP and IMAP accounts may not, because their aim is to stay in sync with the server. If you don't want this to happen, deselect Include this account when receiving mail or synchronizing on the General tab of the account's properties sheet (right-click on the account name in the folder pane and select Properties).

    You should also deselect Send messages immediately on the Send tab of program options, otherwise, a send/receive will be triggered for the account as soon as you press Send. With the option disabled, messages won't be sent until you next use Send/Receive.

    I reviewed your issue and we simulated it. In assistance, please follow the steps on how to turn off synchronization without choosing "Go offline".

    1. Sign in to your Windows Live Mail.
    2. On your left pane, right-click on your account. (eg. Live (sample@live.com) below the Quick Views.
    3. On the drop down menu, choose Properties.
    4. On General tab, uncheck the check box beside Include this account when receiving mail or synchronizing.
    5. Click on Apply and OK.

    To make sure, you may send a test email to your account using the web based email.

    I already have all the recommended settings in the options-menu as described in your quotes; I only have pop-3 accounts;

    I want to keep my account "included when synchronizing" though, because it's easier to press F5 instead having to move into the menu-bar with the mouse each time I want to send mails;

    thanks nontheless for your effort!
