    Corrupt PST file issues after scanpst

    Hi guys,

    I have a pst file that is 2.1gig in size and has recently become corrupt. I have run scanpst on the file and have been able to recover the file structure, ie I can see all the emails listed under the "From" "Subject" etc.
    What I can't see is the body of the email either in the preview pane or if I try to open it. When I do try to open it I get the error;

    Cannot open this item. This value is not valid for the Status field.

    I get this error even after running the scanpst tool. Any ideas how I can recover this?

    Dear Sean,

    Inbox Repair Tool (SCANPST.EXE) is a free utility provided by Microsoft, I have noticed that most of the users got troubled and lost the data due to large PST data file. If you are unable to recovery your outlook file using scanpst tool then you can go with any other third party software such as Outlook recovery software provided by stellar phoenix. It can repair your highly damaged pst file & recover all email information from Outlook file.

    PS: When you are going to purchase any third party software, First try demo version

    Thanks for the reply Marshalhubs I'll look into that.

    Just a bit confused though, I thought the pst file restriction of 2gig had been raised some time back? Was it changed back to 2Gig by Microsoft at any stage?

    The pst file size is nolonger 2 GB for Outlook 2010. It is 50 GB.

    The default .pst file size limit in Outlook 2007 and in Outlook 2003 is 20 GB

    The file size limits of .pst and .ost files are larger in Outlook 2010

    Hi,

    Only Outlook 2003 earlier version has limitation of PST file 2Gig, Now you can store 50 Gig data as @pbcopter suggested. To know more about file size you can go with above link.
