    Problem Installing Office 13

    Hi

I am running Windows 7, 32 bit. I did have Office 10 and didn't have any problems. I got an offer from work for Office 13 from Microsoft HUP and so downloaded it. I had some problems finalising the download and it appeared stay at 84%. After some research I uninstalled Office 10 and 13 and reinstalled Office 13 but the same problem.

All the programs work - I have them all open at the moment but I can't seem to make office the default for everything - especially word. My former Word documents (in Office 2010 - still uninstalled) are now notepad documents and when I tried to change the default Word 13 wasn't on the list). Office still doesn't appear to have fully downloaded as it is stuck at 84%.

Any suggestions how to fully download office and word 13 as the default. I don't really want both office 2010 and 2013 on my PC.

    Thanks

Now stuck at 14% - really is irritating. I feel as if I won't be able to get the full office experience until I get this sorted. Any help much appreciated.

    Thanks for asking Boohbah

Basically yes - that appears to be the way with Office 13. You can use the applications before it has finished installing it says so as it is installing - the problem is the software doesn't appear to be installing fully. Currently it is suck at 14% and won't move - but I can use the applications.

that does seem odd, not something ive come across.
so is it installing as it downloads , is there an option to save it before installing?
if so i would try that and reinsatll when its finished.
i have to go out for a while so hopefully someone who knows about this will see your thread.

You probably have the Office 2013 Click-to-Run version. IMO, when I purchased Office 2010 from Microsoft online around 2 years ago, I found out that I couldn't get office to run without an internet connection, and there's this "Q: drive" that shows up on my computer. Plus it takes ages to open Word, Excel, Power Point, etc. I've had nothing but complaints with the Click-to-run version. I called Microsoft, and they sent me a link for the full offline version of Office. The full version will not open any application (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.) until it is fully installed unlike the Click-to-run version. Plus, since all the necessary files are stored on the hard drive, all apps included in the suite open very fast, unlike the Click-to-run version where it has to fetch files from the internet in order to launch, and this process takes minutes. If you can get hold of the full offline installer of Office 2013 by calling Microsoft, you won't be having this problem at all.

According to Paul Thurrott's WinSupersite Office 2013 Feature Focus: Click-to-Run | Office content from Paul Thurrott's SuperSite for Windows, Office 2013 can run in offline mode, but I still stand in my opinion that the full offline version is still the best and has the least amount of installation problems.

Paul Thurrott also has an article showing the differences between the Click-to-run version and the normal full version of Office 2013: http://winsupersite.com/office-2013/...ls-office-2013

    The Veterans

Thanks for the response. I think this is it. I do have the click to run version. When I go to open word 13 office starts up and says streaming before word opens. Thanks for this - I'll give microsoft a call or I might order the dvd so as I have a proper backup.

    Many thanks.
