Tried deleting the profile and making a new one without luck, w7 is slower than ever when outlook is open....
Maybe I should go with openoffice and evolution as my outlook client...

Did you import the same .pst file or did you try to use the Windows attribute by default?

Either the .pst has an issue or you are having software compatibility issues.

I would try to turn off all non microsoft software in msconfig and try outlook with a new account.

Have you noticed that every time you Edit and Save an Office 2003 file on your desktop ..
The Icon moves .. And you have to chase it down and drag it back to where you want it ??
Office 2007 doesn't have this wandering Icon problem.

    Hi,
i have the same problem with word making windows 7 very slow to proceed with any actions, except if all windows in use are open and visible on the desktop, in which case the open softwares work totally fine.

Any luck in solving the issue?

    thanks!

This seems to be a software snag between 2 differnt programs.

Can the both of you post what programs you are using on your windows?

Can you also try do disable all programs from startup in Msconfig and put a check to hide Microsoft services and disable all other services.

Then try office and tell me if this still happens.

For what its worth I'm running ultimate x64 with office 2003 Pro sp3 and don't have that problem. I currently have outlook running and word running and I don't notice any slow down or lag. I'm running an Athlon II x4 620 (2.6 GHz) processor with 2 gigs of DDR2. If there is something you would like me to look at or check let me know. Have you done all the office updates?

Well I believe I found the problem for word at least. I'm not at home right now so I can't really test it but I'm 95% sure it's that. I have a plugin installed in word that is causing all the trouble : Endnote. I noticed in my laboratory's computer running windows xp x64 that the same bug occured with word 2003. And the only thing I had in common was that I also had endnote installed! Seems like others have this problem also with word and endnote so it's gotta be it.

I'll keep you guys posted when I get back home to see if it was that!

EDIT : it was indeed the problem! Now everything is at normal speed when I use word 2003!Yay!

It's what I thought also (not the proggie) but the reason.

I also have a plugin for French dictionary that acts up also. It doesn't slow word just makes the dialog window oversize depending on the theme. It's not word related but rather an issue with window sizing of created theme because this only happens with certain themes.

Most of application works great until you start integrating with other applications. I have this Tool Officeins.exe handy ever time when a client says Outlook or Word crashes i use that and disable the add-ins then it will work like charm :)

    Thank you for the answers!
I am also using Endnote on a day to day basis so it makes sense, although the problem is there even when Endnote is not open. Anyway, since it is an active part of my work, i guess i'll just have to get along with the delay...I also installed a few MS office upgrades/patches which increased a little the speed process, but it is still not perfect.
