Permanently changing default language to English UK

What is your keyboard set to?

BTW this is not related but why if you are in Australia does this Profile show the US Tme Zone?

Who on earth told you that? Create a system restore point or better still use Macrium Reflect to create a back up image then change the keyboard to UK English and see what that does. It will of course give you the Sterling Pound sign and your @ symbol will change keys.

You seem to have other problems at the moment so if the Language is not a burning problem I would suggest you solve one thing at a time. As you seem reluctant to change the set up of your keyboard and as you say you don't use the pound sterlin sign, why do you want to set up to UK English?

My advice to solve one problem at a time was IMHO most sensible. You don't say if you have looked at the two links \i sent you! Keeping a regular back up of your system is the best advice anyone can give you given your apparent level of expertise. That is certainly not meant to sound insulting just plain common sense. I don't think you will find one single member of this or any other techie Forum that will say BACKUP _ BACKUP is not very sound advice! Without you do a backup I would be reluctant to offer you any further advice as in these circumstances you need to be in a position, that if things go wrong you can very easily return your systen to a good state.
Whether you take the advice is of course your choice!
