which pst file stores the contacts in Outlook 2010

    Outlook 2010
    Win 7 Pro 64 bit

Each email account has a .PST file.
"personal" / .PST files were created for archiving
    Outlook created an Outlook.pst

Can someone confirm that Outlook.pst contains the contact list?
Note: In the account settings tab "Data File" outlook.pst is the only file that has a checkmark (default?) beside it.

The following link states contacts are stored in "Outlook Data File (.pst)".

Contacts can be stored in EACH PST file that you use, so if you have multiple email accounts, each with its own PST, then you can have contacts in each PST file.

When adding a new contact (depending on how you add it), it will be stored in the Default data file (the one with the tick as you mentioned), or the one for the account you are using.,

If you look at the contacts on the bottom on the navigation pane (left), you will see several lists of contacts.

If each account shares a single PST file then all contacts will be in that PST file.

    Thank you TanyaC!

Your answer was perfect because it taught me how to get an accurate answer. The Contacts icon has not been used since Outlook 2007 was first installed at work.

As it turns out all Contacts, and Suggested Contacts, are in "\\Outlook Data File"; probably because contacts are always accessed via the Address Book.

    Godspeed,
    Jim

PS. Your signature is nice. It will be passed along giving the author and you credit. A book I read is often misunderstood by me "making" me uncomfortable. It is also misunderstood by most of the world; with the same results!
