How to Disable Outlook when you click on an e-mail link

How do I disable Outlook when I click on a link that leads to an e-mail? Instead of opening outlook is there another way to figure out the e-mail so that I can send it normally through hotmail without having to open or use outlook?

in firefox you click tools /options / click the applications tab then scroll down to mailto, click the dropdown arrow and select what you want it to do,
i will say that it doesnt give outlook . com as an option
im using win8 and i have it open with the mail app ,which is my outlook.com

there was a small softwear that used to to it but im not sure it works with firefox 20+

    GmailDefaultMaker - Home

although it says gmail defaultmaker you can select hotmail in the setup
