I can't open Microsoft Word 2007 program and document

I have an Acer Aspire 4740G laptop, running MS Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, with Intel Core i5 CPU M 430 @ 2.27 GHz, and 2 GB RAM. I have AVG Antivirus Free Edition 2014 installed.

I have many problems and get error messages when I try to open a MS Word document or try to get MS Word program to open.

Problem #1 and Error message #1:

I cannot get past the first orange screen that says "Microsoft Word 2007". It hangs indefinitely. Error message: "There was a problem sending the command to the program."

    Problem #2:

I tried to open a MS Word document with LibreOffice. It opened the first MS Word document but hanged indefinitely when I tried to open another MS Word document.

    Problem #3:

I tried opening a MS Word document using MS Publisher; it had problems and hanged indefinitely.

Problem #4 and Error message #2:

I tried to create a document in MS Publisher using MS Word features (import) but it gave an error message: "Microsoft Office Publisher is connecting to printer Microsoft XPS Document Writer to get print capabilities and settings information." This hanged indefinitely.

    Problem #5:

After I had imported MS Word features into MS Publisher, when I tried to use MS Publisher itself, the pull-down menus were all empty. Why were they empty? What happened there? It never happened before.

    Problem #6:

I searched Windword.exe using Start > and I typed this in the Search box:

    "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\winword.exe"/unregserver

But I didn't find this on my laptop. So I downloaded Winword.exe and searched again. But still this search term "unregserver" did not appear.

    Problem #7:

I went to the Control Panel and clicked on "Programs and Features" then scrolled down the list until I found Word and clicked on it. Then it gave me an option to Remove/Modify/Repair. I clicked Repair but it did not 'repair' the program and I still can't open my MS Word.

I don't want to have to re-install MS Word because I have misplaced it and can't find it anyway.

I will sincerely appreciate any help.

Hi Faridah, Welcome to Seven forums.

    Lot of errors there.

Try this for starters. Fix MS Word.

Also, try to run MS Word after unchecking the option "Run as Administrator".

Faridah, welcome, Have you tried to uninstall office 2007 and then after restarting your system. Then install it again to see if something was messed up in your previous install?

Now I can open Microsoft Word 2007

I posted my problems earlier, and 2 people came forward to help - I am happy & TQ. I'm also happy because while waiting for help to come, I did something right - I updated Windows (there were 1 critical and 4 normal updates). I downloaded them but I don't remember whether I installed them or not. Then an exe window appeared and said it will repair my Microsoft Word 2007. I waited and another window said something else (to save document or smthg). I waited till the second window completed and said my program is completed and fixed. Then I tried to open MS Word program which I pinned to my bottom menu bar and it instantly opened. Wonderful! I have not tried anything else, not even the solutions posted above from the 2 who came fwd to help (archer and rich). I will write again if I get stuck. TQ. Now I can say "Happy New Year!"
